From Garrison Researcher H.O.:

On a whim I went back into Fold3, feeling lucky after finding the Alexander Garrison documents that link our Mason Co Alexander to Stafford County.

I found a War of 1812 record for a George Garrison with notes attached that I had not seen before. Many of these War of 1812 records tie names to states, but not to specific units/areas, so it’s pretty impossible to tell if the person in that particular record is “your” person.

However, this George Garrison is not only listed as part of the Virginia Militia, the note says he was part of “Capt Barten Stone" and "Col Renna” — these are the same officers identified by Alexander as leaders of his unit.

Alexander’s papers state in his own words “I was in the Company of Virginia troops in said War first commanded by Captain Thomas Alexander, then by Captain Alexander Williams and at discharge our Company was commanded by Captain Barton H Stone. Col Samuel Peyton commanded the regiment first, and we were discharged under Col Renno…our major’s name was Tolson, our adjutant’s name was Thomas Fristow, the lieutenants of our company were George Waller and William Mc——“ etc. (As you probably know, these names — Peyton, Fristow, Stone, Waller, Tolson — are all Stafford County names.)

So in this War of 1812 record for George Garrison, there is a notation under Comments: “widow Nelly nee Briddle or Bridewell

Has anyone seen this listing or name before, tied to a George Garrison of Stafford VA? We know there is a connection with the Bridwell family through Aaron and Elizabeth...

And the other thing I put together is that Nellie is a nickname for…drumroll please…Ellen or Eleanor. (!!!!!!)

GARRISON, AARON — guessing this is the son of one of Aaron and Elizabeth’s sons (George, John, Aaron, or Moses), and is the same Aaron Garrison we find in the 1810 Stafford County Census — that Aaron Garrison looks to have been born between 1766-1784 based on census calculations

GARRISON, ALEXANDER - b. ~1793, moved to Mason County after the war. Most likely the son of George 1765 and Nellie/Ellen Bridwell Garrison, grandson of George 1742, and great-grandson of Aaron and Elizabeth

GARRISON, CHARLES - not sure who this is?

GARRISON, ELIJAH - guessing that this is the Elijah Garrison also found in Mason County/married Lucy Baldwin 1823 - so most likely a brother or cousin of Alexander

GARRISON, GEORGE - here’s our patriarch George, b. ~1765, moved with his family (and possibly extended family) to Mason County after the War
