Notes for Joseph Monroe Light
I do not believe Meredith 1825 is Joseph Monroe 1858 Light’s father as shown in many family trees. I do believe that Joseph Monroe’s father was one of Obadiah ca1775 Light’s sons.

Meredith and his wife, Elizabeth, married in 1844 and are shown, with family, in the 1860 Marshall, Alabama census. Joseph, who would be 2 years old is not in their family.

It appears that John Monroe 1858 Light’s father, given name unknown, probably died in 1857 and his mother, Elizabeth (ca 1827), married Joseph Stepp in 1858, in Bartow County, Georgia.

Joseph Monroe Light, together with his siblings (Francis, John, Luisa) and mother, Elizabeth (remarried), are shown in the 1860 Cass County, Georgia census, with Joseph Stepp as HOH.

Elizabeth 1827 also shows up in the 1880 Tarrent County, Texas census using her previous married name, Light. Her son, John M Light, Joseph’s brother, is living with her. This is important as Joseph Monroe and wife, Alzada Elizabeth Garrison, are shown in the 1880 Tarrent County census with daughter, Eliza J, age 5.
