In the 1900 Crawford County census Elizabeth Alderson, Mary’s mother, is shown living with her son, William, and a “Granddaughter” Ethel White, age 11. Samantha Garrison, Mary’s sister, was too young for Ethel to be her daughter meaning Mary probably was Ethel’s mother.
The raw census document shows that they did not know where Ethel’s father was from.
This also means that Mary’s marriage to Frank Riordan did not last, that it led to divorce.
