Be aware that the 1870 census shows two separate sheets or families for members of Peach Roadcap’s family. One shows Peachy, his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Margaret (Maggie). The other shows Peachy’s son, Robert, as family head with Mary, age 18; Alice, Lydia, John and Sam H. If you look at the original census document, you will see that they are all part of the same household. It looks like Mary, age 18, is Robert’s spouse, and Alice, Lydia, John, and Sam are their children. Mary, age 18, would have to been age 12 if John, 7 in 1870, was her son.
