Notes for Margaret “Peggy” Green
In the magazine Northern Virginia Genealogy, Vol. 2, Number 2, April 1997 is an article entitled, "Wringing Northern Virginians Out of Final Pension Payment Vouchers, 1818-1864" by Alycon Trubey Pierce, CG. This article lists married daughters of pensioners who filed for the final pension payment on their deceased parent. There are two records of interest:

Abel, Peggy (James), 1833, Pr. William, Elijah Green
Rolls, Sally (Jacob), 1833, Pr. William, Elijah Green

Peggy is a very common nickname for Margaret. What this record shows is that Peggy Abel, wife of James Abel, filed for the final pension payment for her deceased father, Elijah Green, of Prince William Co, VA.

Also listed is Sally Rolls, wife of Jacob Rolls, filing for the same pension. My assumption is that Sally and Peggy were both daughters of Elijah Green. So, I believe that Peggy or Margaret must have been Peggy Green.

Since James and Margarel Abel had a son named Elijah, we must have been named for his grandfather on his mother's side.
