Notes for Hugh Atchison
1. John M. Stevens did marry Louisa V. Atchison, daughter of Hugh and Sara Atchison.
2. Hugh and Sara also had a son, Henry Atchison, who died in 1858.
3. John and Louisa had one son, Richard Hugh Stevens, in 1839. He died in 1920.
4. I know next to nothing about the Stevens lineage; most of the family traces back along Garrison lines much more readily in Stafford County.
5. Hugh Atchison owned the large tract of land on either side of Jumping Branch Road, and in the mid 1800's divided up the property into a "dower" - the home which I mention, and you have visited (lucky you!), was probably used or built by Hugh or another Atchison before being included in Louisa's dowery when she wedded John Stevens
