Mr. John Brown died at his home in Washington Monday night, aged 75 years. (=1835) The deceased was a former resident of this city and was for years assistant postmaster under several Republican administrations. He was considered the fastest mail-handleer every in the postoffice and the swiftest foot-racer Fredericksburg ever produced. He married Miss Lucy Wheeler, a sister of Mr. E. (Emmett) K Wheeler, who survives him with one daughter, Miss Bettie Brown.
