Edward Shelton’s wife must have been Nancy Ann Seddon. I believe Rodney was “Seddon” Jefferson. Seldon only shows up in his death record, possibly an error made by the informant.

Nancy Ann Seddon is represented as a tick mark in 1810 census with Edward Shelton. It appears they separated or divorced and she reverted to her maiden name, Seddon, (Ann) in the 1820, (Ann) 1830, and (Nancy) 1840 census. She must have died before 1850.

Rowzee Shelton was the youngest son of Edward Shelton, constable of Stafford Co., VA, and his wife, Nancy. Edward was the son of William Shelton, Jr., who was born in Charles Co., MD. Rowzee had brothers, George Gustavus Shelton, Rodney Selden Jefferson Shelton, and Samuel C. Shelton. Note that Rowzee and each of his brothers named a son "John S." or "John Seddon". The "S" definitely stood for "Seddon" for the sons of Rowzee and Rodney and was most likely the same for the other two brothers. The "Gordon" name also was used by many of the descendants of these brothers. The families of Garrison and Raines appear to be closely related.
