handed down from a letter written by "Ida Frances Patton Manuel" on September 28th 1929:

" Asenith father, "Jessie Embrey" and her mother a Miss Hickerson and its most certain from the name that hermothers name Hickerson was also of English descent but her father himself Jessie Embrey of Stafford County, Virginia, has been handed down to us through the years suthentiely as being one half indian his mother a full Blood indian girl from the indian tribe and to that union were born ten sons and four daughters, fourteen children:Asenith Embrey Patton, Lillie Embrey Hoofman, Ebilina Embrey: and Mrs. Butler, I think named Ellen Embrey an not certain but some of their sons fought in the war of 1812. Eli Embrey, Daniel Embrey, Garnett Embrey Nathaniel Embrey Benjamin Embrey Jeptha Embrey and three sons names I have forgotten."
