Notes for William Garrison I-BY172565
Reference: Virginia - Overwharton Parish Register 1720 - 1760, Old Stafford County:
“Page 65, Garrison, William. Son of Mary, born December 11, 1744”
“Page 65, Garrison, Mary. Married John Kelly, November 1, 1745”
Per “A Garrison Family History” by Ray H. Garrison:
“He (William) purchased his Virginia plantation in 1771, just a few years after the formation of Albemarle County. He then farmed this land for nearly 40 years, until about 1810, and it appears that he worked his land without the use of slaves.”
“Thus, by twenty years after William Garrison’s death, his land fell into the hands of a person outside the family, and his children ended up with almost nothing from the disposal of their father’s property.”
