Notes for Mary Polly Ann (Spouse 1)
There are numerous family trees and Find a Grave presentations that have a Mary Polly Griffis as the daughter of Thomas Griffis and Ann Ragland. Mary Polly Griffis has also been identified as the wife of other men named in various family trees.

I have been unable to find a source document or vital record that positively identifies her spouse. However, “Mary” ca1798 has been shown as the wife of Yelverton Garrison in the 1850 Stafford County Census. This by itself is meaningless. I have identified her as Mary Polly Griffis based on DNA matches:

My (M J Garrison) FamilyTreeDNA Family Finder Matching results shows that William Dale ca1955 Griffis and I are 2nd Cousin - 4th Cousin.

Yelverton c1797 Garrison and spouse, Mary “Polly Ann” Griffis are my GGG grandparents.

Alexander D 1803 Griffis and Mary Ann Hickerson are William Dale Griffis’ GGG grandparents.

Both sets of grandparents are 4th generation ancestors of William D Griffis and myself, M J Garrison.

Based on the above DNA match, I propose that Mary Polly Griffis and Alexander D Griffis were siblings, sharing a common ancestor; in this case, their father.

John Henry Garrison’s (Yelverton and Mary Polly’s son) death record shows Polly Griffis was born in Stafford, County.
